sock hop

james and i are so unorganized right now. with the house up for sale, i haven't been spending enough time keeping my calendar updated. i used to be pretty good about mailing birthday cards on time. now people are lucky if they get them a week late. i hate that.

anyway......tonight lauren and james were supposed to go to a daddy/daughter {sock hop} at the church. james was running late getting home from work and i wasn't in the mood to cook, so we decided to go out to eat. we were driving to dinner and james asked what was in our social calendar for the weekend. at that moment we realized that they were missing the dance. we should have never brought it up with lauren, but she was bent after that. we spent the rest of the night doing whatever she wanted to do. we ended up eating at red robin and she was able to get whatever the "red" drink (we very rarely let them get anything other than milk), chicken fingers, and ice cream. the ice cream was a treat for me too...the kids told mrs. pat (our favorite server) that my birthday was coming up, so she made me a big sundae! on our way home, lauren and brandon asked if they could watch a movie. so feeling bad for forgetting the dance, we stopped at the redbox and rented the princess and the frog movie and astroboy. then they got this bright idea on the way home that they wanted to have a campout. so we made a tent with all of the kitchen chairs and my grandma's quilt. love seeing that quilt. reminds me of my mama. i miss her.
