i didn't want to spend my actual birthday tomorrow running errands, so i did all of that today. and not to mention that it's much easier to do this stuff minus the kids! after a busy, yet blissfully quiet day, i went to pick up lauren from preschool. she was still napping, so i had to wake her up. as usual, when she is woken up...she is in the worst mood. i leave her room to go check and see what brandon is up to in his classroom. he's still sleeping too. i walk back to lauren's class and she's up and moving around. i give her a hug and when she looks up at me, i notice her right eye is all swollen. immediately i am like, "did someone hit you? did you fall down?" she says yes at first, but then she said, "well, i don't think so." her teacher, mrs. lisa, is now outside with all the carpoolers, so i walk down to her and ask her if she knows of anything. she said that when she put her down for her nap, there was nothing wrong with her face.
lauren's other teacher helps out in brandon's class in the afternoon, so i walked down there to ask her what was up. she walks outside, and as i pull back lauren's hair to show her her face, there are these big bumps on her right cheek (along with her eye being swollen). okay, those were NOT just there when i first saw her eye. i'm like, "marisa...WHAT IS THIS????" i can feel the panic starting to set in. we move her hair away from her neck and there are bumps all over it. we lift her shirt up and there are bumps all over her stomach. lift up her shorts. just a couple of bumps. mrs. lisa comes over and she's like, "OMG! what is that? i start asking what they did during the day. they had not gone outside on the playground, they played in the gym. my kids are scared of bugs, so unless one crawled on her and bit her during naptime, she would have run from it. and mrs. lisa ate lunch with lauren. because of her nut allergy, an adult always sits near her to make sure she doesn't eat anyone else's lunch. my kids are weird about sharing, so i doubt that would ever be an issue, but it makes the teacher feel better. anyway, i speed dial our pediatrician's office, and they say to bring her in as soon as possible. as i'm heading out of lauren's school to pick up jared, i call james and tell him that he needs to meet me at the doctor's office. i was really scared that we were going to end up in the hospital.
remember when i said there were just a couple of bumps on her legs? by the time i got to the doctor's office, this is what her entire body looked like this:

i was staying calm, but on the inside i was freaking out. we went over everything that we knew of, and the doctor was just not sure what could have caused it. she checked lauren out, and she said that she would probably be bumpy for the next couple of days, but she would be okay. she prescribed her a steroid and told us to watch her for the next few hours. i remembered that we were supposed to be dropping off all the kids at parent's night out so we could go out, but she advised against lauren going just in case. bummer for both of us. lauren LOVES parent's night out. they blow up the moon walk and watch movies and eat snacks etc. and i was bummed because i was really looking forward to beating everyone at laser tag!
we got home from the doctor's office and an agent called to ask if they could show our house. we decided to go ahead and go out to dinner. while we were heading out, we decided to drop the boys off at parent's night out and just take the princess out to dinner. jared was soooo happy that he was getting to go! we dropped them off and let lauren pick where we were going to eat. i was thankful that she chose pappasito's. and since i knew that i would probably be a nervous wreck during the night (worried that she might stop breathing), i didn't have a birthday margarita. :(
the last picture of me at 31. and my sweet baby girl.got brandon home and tried to put him to bed. he wasn't really interested. he played in his crib until almost 10:30 p.m. i went to check on lauren and she was covered in hives again. i freaked. i think it was because she was covered up in all her favorite blankets. i gave her some benadryl (the doctor said it was okay to do that), and brought her upstairs to lay in the guest bed with me. then i remembered i had to go get jared. ack! after picking him up and getting him settled into bed, i finally got to lay down and rest. well, as much rest as one can get with a kid in bed with them!
30 minutes until my birthday!!!
