let's go orioles!!!

today was a beautiful day for a little league baseball game! the weather was absolutely perfect. and the kids were looking like they were ready to bring home another victory!

just as the first pitch was getting ready to be thrown out, the sprinkler system came on. those poor kids, especially the first baseman! the sports director had no idea that the system was still on. it took about 15 minutes to get it turned off. being the smart parents that we are, we emptied out the trash cans and turned them over in the field so we could get the show on the road! if you notice, there is one can still out between first and second base!!!

jared up at bat! he brought two runners home! wu-hoo!!!

jared's turn to be the catcher. LOVE the look of all the helmets and bats lined up!

jared bringing in another run for the orioles!

the boys were awesome today. we ended up winning 10-4. the boy's were so proud of themselves. unfortunately we had a scary incident. one of our favorite players, rob, was warming up with jacob's dad, and he ended up passing out. we called 9-1-1 because rob was having trouble staying awake and we just weren't sure what to do. the ambulance came and did their assessment. they said that his ekg was not normal, so they rushed him on to the hospital. we were all freaked out, especially jared. rob's grandfather was at the game so we offered to take him and their vehicle over to the hospital. james and jared stayed with his grandfather while i picked up our kids to go pick them up. then a second bad incident happened. you have to be super careful in the parking lot because people stink at watching their kids, so i was backing up really slowly. unfortunately i didn't turn the mini enough and i backed into a parked car. ugh. i get out and it's a BRAND NEW parked car. still with the paper plates. and a very fancy new sports car at that. i jumped out the car with a piece of paper with my number and said, "going to hospital, will be back. if i don't find you please call me...lindsay" and i took off. i'm sure people in the parking lot wondered if i was really leaving my info or if i was coming back. eeks. so i ran to the hospital, picked up james and jared, went back to the Y to find the owner of the car. i search around and finally find the owner. GREAT. he works for the Y. i see him all the time. way to go lindsay! so i tell him what happened, he comes out and looks. as we were walking to the car i'm telling him what happened prior to my bumping him and what do you know...jared is melting down in the parking lot. i'm not sure if the guy felt sorry for me and said "don't worry about it" or if he knew he could buff off my paint on his car...but he was like, "don't worry about it! thanks for at least coming to tell me!" i was so appreciative. just goes to show how being honest pays off.

ANYWAY........rob was okay and was released from the hospital later that day. although we are bummed out that he's not allowed to play anymore until he sees a pediatric cardiologist. we love hanging out with rob and his family. practices and the games just won't be the same.
