more yardwork

mr. rene and his crew came over this afternoon and spent FOUR hours tearing up our landscaping. i didn't realize how big of a job it would be. thank goodness we hired them to do the work. i can't imagine how long it would have taken for me and james to do it. he planted all of the plants that we purchased the other day, and we realized that we still needed more plants. i loaded up lauren and brandon and went back to the garden center. before leaving, lauren and i had an interesting conversation.

me: "lauren, we need to go to the garden center to get a few more plants."
lauren: "but we can't."
me: "why not?"
lauren: "because daddy is not here."
me: "we can go without daddy to get plants."
lauren: "because we are big girls???"
me: "we ARE big girls, and we can do anything we put our minds to!"
lauren: "YEAH! and we are awesome!"

we managed to get the rest of the plants that we needed for yard without daddy. i know how much he likes to be needed by his girls, but a good lesson for lauren to learn that we don't need a man for everything!

p.s. can you believe in january that we're wearing shorts, tee-shirts and sandals???
