poor baby girl failed her mandatory hearing screening at school a few weeks ago. i scheduled an appointment with the pediatric ent for this morning. lauren was very brave while dr. d looked in her ears. i am glad that i took this picture at this point in the exam, because about 2 seconds later, he pulled out the biggest wax buildup i have ever seen in my life. i will spare you the details, but i almost got sick. dr. d decided that he didn't want to give her a hearing test because he was pretty sure that she would fail due to the amount of fluid build up. so she is now on two types of medication, and he will check her again at the end of this month. if the fluid hasn't cleared up, she will be getting tubes in her ears.

this would explain why lauren is always saying "what???" when i ask her a question. or the crazy loud volume that she turns the television up to. or why she doesn't always respond until i start screaming!
